1922 Founding of the W. Günther company in Nuremberg. Initial operations as a manufacturer of electromechanical components.
1950s–1970s Development of reed switch technology and proprietary glass-to-metal bushings. Günther becomes one of the leading European manufacturers of reed switches.
1980s Expansion of the portfolio to include electronic switching components. Development of solid-state relays begins.
1990s Introduction of the first industrial SSR series (including the SSR-WG). Strengthening of international sales structures.
2000s Expansion of product lines for AC and DC loads, zero-cross and random-switching variants. Integration into the S.T.G. Germany Group.
2010s Modernization of production in Nuremberg. Expansion of the sensor portfolio (tilt, proximity, reed relays).
2020s Further development of the SSR series for industrial, energy, and automation applications. Focus on robust, long-term stable semiconductor technology.
Today's Profile
GÜNTHER is an established manufacturer within the STG Group, specializing in durable, industrial-grade switching and sensor components. Solid-state relays are among its core products and are used worldwide.
STG Germany GmbH was founded in Nuremberg in January 2004 to take over the business operations of the former W. Günther GmbH.
The new company acquired all production equipment in Nuremberg, the customer base, and the patents, and is authorized to use the GÜNTHER® brand.
In addition, STG purchased the shares of the production company Bachem GmbH & Co. KG from Berlin.
STG established a new production facility in Blaj, Romania. STG's sales and R&D units remain in Nuremberg, Germany.
